I general, the removal of an abscessed baby tooth will help the developing tooth-antibiotics buy time (usually a few weeks) but do not cure. There are not easy quick answers in these situations. I would ask your pediatric dentist what course of action is best for you. I do think there is lots of info here on the blog-like info on sedation and behavior that you may find informative. It is a little hard to find as the blog has gotten so large. My daughter is 19 mos & her tooth was badly chipped. 6 wks later, the xray looks good & the tooth has great color, however there is redness & swelling on the outer gum. 2)How long can extraction safely be postponed with antibiotic? 3)Local anesthetic & papoose board sounds like TORTURE, so should I press for anesthesia? 4)If so, why not just do a root canal & crown???
