Specialist or Generalist?

Here is an interesting summary of the distribution of dentists in the United States of America. Most dentists (85%) are General Dentists. About 6% are Orthodontists. If you are a Pediatric Dentist, you are in rare company. Under 3% (about 4000) are blessed to be able to call themselves Pediatric Dentists. See here: The Dental Specialties for more information. More info here too: U.S. government data.

Yes, I feel very lucky to be a member of this community of pediatric dentists. I LOVE what I get to do every day. Great blog - you offer crucial information for patients and their families- as well as for us residents. Very nicely done.
